Yoga Whole Foods Diet

Why the Yogic way for food? Because yoga is a powerful science in itself. It has laid emphasis on food for a very long time and in fact, Anna Yoga, which is an entirely whole branch of yoga, is actually devoted to food. This, for both health and happiness purposes.

The yogic way for food is something interesting and tried and tested, truth be told. Because yoga does not dissect food into protein, minerals, vitamins and the like, the yogic philosophy lies on the ingredients’ true benefits instead.

Since time immemorial, yoga has maintained a concept of a balanced whole foods diet and a philosophy devoted to food and eating. These principles of good and healthy eating employ powerful and efficient techniques. These then help maintain a yoga practitioner’s strong and healthy body, a calm, peaceful and stress free mind and a spirituality that’s vibrant and positive.

The actual key to true good health is a balanced whole foods diet. This balanced diet then guarantees that all of the faculties of digestion will work as smoothly as possible --- from absorption to assimilation to elimination.

But what exactly are whole foods?

Whole foods are substances that are edible and that are close to their natural state. These types of food have not been pre-processed in any way and they are closed to their being “whole”. Their nutrition and flavor are kept intact.

Based on the idea of whole foods, you should buy them under these circumstances:

  • as a whole and in their most natural and simplest form possible
  • when they are in season and are close to the source
  • free of chemicals and other additives
  • free of subtractions
  • sold in bulk and not pre-packed
